Privacy policy
About this policy
Novaryn operates Cascade MIDI Player. This policy applies to version 0.1.0 and explains local file access, playback data and support correspondence. Effective September 9, 2026. For support or privacy requests, contact [email protected].
What stays in the app
Cascade is a local MIDI player. It saves library entries, file names, source paths or document references, playlists, SoundFonts and preferences such as language, appearance, scan filters and setup progress in app storage. On Android, supported files remain at their original location and are read through authorized references; providers that cannot be read directly may require a local copy. On iPhone and iPad, imported MIDI files are stored in the app’s library. Version 0.1.0 has no accounts, cloud library, advertising or in-app purchases.
Collection and sharing
The app has no developer-operated upload service, advertising SDK or analytics SDK. It does not send your MIDI files, library or playback history to Novaryn. It does not track you across other apps or websites.
File access and media controls
You choose files or folders through the system picker. On Android, audio-file permission is requested for the device scan feature; authorized folder access is used for folder scans. A media-playback foreground service and media-session controls support playback you start, including when the app is in the background. Ordinary notification permission is not requested during setup. The app supplies the current title and playback state to operating-system media controls, which may display them on the lock screen or connected media devices.
Backups and file providers
Operating-system backups may include app data according to your device settings; Android backup is enabled in this version. A file provider selected in the system picker may download files from its own cloud service. Those services are operated by their providers, not by Cascade. Manage backup copies and cloud files through the relevant provider and device settings.
Retention and deletion
Library files and settings remain until you remove them or clear the app’s data. Removing a song deletes its library entry and any app-owned copy, not an externally referenced original. Moving or deleting an original file, or revoking access, can make the corresponding library entry unavailable; select the file or folder again to restore access. You can delete custom SoundFonts in Settings → SoundFonts. Deleting a playlist removes its list, not its songs. Uninstalling the app normally removes local app data; backup copies and source files must be managed separately.
Support correspondence
If you email [email protected], Novaryn receives the email address, message and attachments you choose to send. We use them to respond to your request and investigate the reported issue. Email service providers process this correspondence to deliver and store it. We retain support correspondence only for the time needed to handle your request, then delete it. To request deletion of correspondence, use the same address. Please avoid sending unrelated personal information or music files unless they are needed to resolve the issue.
